Hull-A-Port XTR is Thule's newest and best ever fold down "J"-Cradle. Kayaks are stiffer on their sides, so carrying your kayak a "J"-cradle is the best. You can also carry more kayaks and/or bikes on your car roof when kayaks are on their side because kayaks take up less roof space when on their side. "J" cradles stick up higher than upright cradles so you want "J" cradles that fold down when not in use so you can go into parking garages etc.
